J. Henry Goguen was a Massachusetts politician and civil servant. who served as acting Secretary of the Commonwealth from 1958-1959.

Biography

Goguen worked as a city councilor, United States Marshal,[1] State Representative,[2] and IRS field deputy.[3] From 1952-1961 he was the Massachusetts Public Safety Commissioner. Goguen was named acting Secretary of the Commonwealth on December 1, 1958 following the death of Edward J. Cronin. He remained Secretary until the legislature elected Joseph D. Ward on January 20, 1959.[4] Goguen was an alternate delegate to the 1932, 1952, and 1956 Democratic National Conventions.

Goguen was the President General of Union Saint-Jean-Baptiste, a fraternal order and social club for Franco-Americans, from 1946-1974.[5]
